It is sad that we believe that personal freedoms have to be sacrificed for the betterment of a society. Regardless of whether Bush or the Iraq war or anything else politically happens in the United States, the attempt at creating a totalitarian state under the guise of a socialist utopia is scary, and should be for you as well. The rhetoric is great, I have been to Venezuela, and the country, like many (including the U.S.), could definitely use vast improvement in the quality of life for its poor. However, a charismatic leader like Chavez, should be able to concentrate on that and get the support he needs. Forget all of the inflammatory, nasty negativism. Concentrate on improving your state, oppose Bush or U.S. policy without creating a dangerous environment for the U.S. citizenry, especially since many of us enjoy Venezuela, support its economy and have the best wishes at heart for the Venezuelan people. We do not all have to agree, but in my opinion, Chavez is just another side of Bush\'s coin, all of this Axis of Evil, and requesting the removal of known terrorist groups from the terrorist watch list is all ludicrous, and ultimately unproductive. Power grabbing and nationalistic rhetoric has been seen before, history is a brutal teacher, we would do well to heed her warnings.

I have been defending the policies of Hugo Chavez in Brazil for quite a few years, in Brazilian weeklies and international websites. I raised a topic in THE EDGE, Asia Times\' Readers\' Forum exactly 12 months ago. This issue received over 200 comments and 6820 pages views. If \"AMERICANS FOR CHAVEZ\" is interested, it may post my EDGE link in its website. The title of my topic is: Socialism for the XXI Century in Latin America.
Here is the URL: http://forum.atimes.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9650
I have already posted over 5600 topics in the the EDGE, the http://www.atimes.com website is excellent
Best regards,

Estimado President Chavez :
Muchisimas gracias.

I Hope you reprint this message in the Visitor Comments because I am a visitor too. If you don´t reprint this message I would really believe that you are definitively like chavez and just support the people who thinks like you.
I am from Venezuela, I think it´s so easy be a great fan of Chavez in North America. I invite you to come. In my country if you don´t think like Chavez you are an enemy (that´s not democracy). You go to the Grocery Store and dont find Chicken, milk or sugar because the factories closed. the popular support is every day less. Because the people who supported him in the search for a real change now recognize He is just like the other politicians or even worse.

I just saw this website today and am very pleased to see people supporting Chavez because anybody who really knows Chavez will always support him. He is one of the few left honest leaders today.
I live in Kansas and I would be more than glad to offer any kind of support.
Thanks and long live the Revolution, Eddie

Where were all the "good liberal democrats" when Venezuela's oil wealth was exploited by Oil companies in the 40s and 50s ?
Now, at last, a leader emerges who is sharing his national wealth with his neighbors and is "giving it all away" to the people of Venezuela as Alan Greenspan complains. So! He is turning Capitalist Economics and Capitalist Sociology on its head. Good deal! How well is Capitalism doing right here in the States! And in Europe ! Go read the Wall Street Journal to watch the death throes of Capitalism.
The plain fact is that Chavez, Ahmedinejad, Putin, Hu Jin Tao in China and the leaders of India and Central Asia are able to strike out on their own (indeed they have to strike out on their own) simply because as Nietzsche said: "God is dead!" The God of Capitalism is dead - at last.
Why did it take so long (slightly less than 200 years) to die? Why did it take the Roman Empire 400 years -from Augustus to Augustulus; and the Byzantine Empire 1000 more years to die? That's a question too long to discuss here. But just note this: as long as Rich Americans send their wealth outside the US - mainly to BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) understand that that they know Capitalism is dying.
Viva Villa! Viva Zapata! Viva Che! Viva Fidel; and Viva Chavez Frias!
You are doing a good job at this website. Keep it up! And BTW, if you want to save your money (such as it is) follow the advice - and do what they do - of men like Warren Buffett, George Soros, the big Investment Bankers on the Street - or, our good friends Cheney, Rummy and the rest! WHERE DO YOU THINK AMERICANS WITH SAVVY AND THE CASH STORE THEIR MONEY! Follow them. Cherchez, Le cash! Good 'bye!

There is no fucking way that they are Americans, born and raised in this country, are promoting or supporting this idiot. If so, leave this country and go live with this so-called leader. I will give you 120 days of life in his miserable country.
You people, who ever you are, make me and millions of real Americans sick.
And I dare you to post my comments on your website. You are pieces of shit with feet.
